The Delta Homecraft 8 Inch Table Saw No. 34-500 performed all of the operations commonly done on larger and more expensive machines of its type. The working parts were enclosed in a welded steel cabinet. The saw was light weight, had a large working capacity and was ruggedly designed. Cross cutting, ripping, mitering and beveling operations could be easily accomplished. Accessories for dado and molding operations were also available to extend the versatility of the saw.
The maximum depth of cut was 1 1/4 inches. When the saw blade was tilted 45 degrees to the right, a 1 9/16" depth of cut could be obtained with an 8 inch blade. The "Auto-Set" miter gauge was adjustable for cuts at any angle up to 60 degrees right or left. The "Micro-Set" rip fence could be clamped at any point along the entire width of the table including the side extensions when mounted.
The table height of the saw was 34 1/2 inches above the floor when mounted. Its size is 15 inches wide by 22 inches deep; when both side extensions are mounted, its size is 25 inches wide by 22 inches deep. The cabinet size is 13 1/2 inches wide, 14 inches deep by 11 1/2 inches high.
The construction of the saw featured a welded steel cabinet ruggedly constructed as a 
frame for mounting the table and carrying the working parts to provides maximum safety for the operator. The use of a heavily ribbed table, side table extensions, arbor bracket, trunnions and trunnion brackets made of sturdy grey iron castings produced maximum rigidity between the working parts of the machine. 
The arbor was ground to a close tolerance and its flange was finish faced accurately after it was assembled. These manufacturing enhancements assured a true running arbor on which the blade was mounted and held square with the axis of rotation.
The rip fence extended the full length of the table. It included the front and rear locking devices independent of one another. The rip fence could be moved along the graduated scale on the front guide rail without having to measure the distance from the saw blade each time since the pointer incorporated in the front clamp block enabled the operator to read the distance directly.
The blade guard with splitter and anti-kickback fingers gave maximum protection to the operator and view of the saw blade at all times. It was mounted on the saw in such a way that it tilted with the saw at any angle.
The raising and tilting mechanisms were operated by hand-wheels with free turning hand grips and useful locking devices which were located at convenient positions on the side of the saw cabinet.

This was a capacitor start, 115 volt, 60 cycle, 1725 r.p.m. motor with ball bearings and a 5/8" diameter shaft. The motor speed of 1725 rpm ran the arbor at 3850 rpm or the 8 inch saw blade at 8100 surface feet per minute.
No. 34-965 V-Belt And Motor Pulley Guard
This guard completely protects the operator from the motor pulley and V-belt. It prevents a bystander's hands from begin accidentally caught between the V-belt and motor pulley while in operation.
This assembly was mounted on the end bell of the motor.
Delta HJ-17 Motor Pulley
The motor for the Delta Saw-Jointer Combination unit used different pulleys on each end. This one was used to power the 4" Homecraft jointer.

The 8" table saw came with two of the hand wheels and lock knobs. One was located on the front of the saw for raising and lowering the blade and the other was on the side and was used to tilt the saw arbor.

The motor mount allowed the motor to hang off the back of the saw cabinet. The mount was hinged so the weight of the motor would put tension on the v-belt.

No. 34-500 Toggle Swtich Name Plate
This was the Delta 34-500 Switch Name plate identified as part No. TAB-138. It measured 1 3/8" wide by 3 5/8" tall.
The miter gage has a 7 inch face and a 3/8 x 3/4 x 18 inch bar which fits the table slot of circular saws and other machines. It can be set at any angle up to 60 degrees to the right or left, and it has adjustable stops for instantaneous settings at zero and 45 degrees to the right or left. It can be adjusted to compensate for wear or loosening the head by merely loosening or tightening a tapered pivot screw.
